Innovative Tillage System for Soil Fertility and Food Web Enhancement

Biological soil food web development through compost and mechanical tillage in Hungarian agricultural fields

or

Detail description

This study demonstrates an innovative tillage system enhancing soil fertility through a biological soil food web, improving soil structure and crop yield while reducing weeds and waterlogging. Mechanical and biological practices, including drone-applied compost and compost tea, were used across three fields in Hungary. Significant improvements in soil aggregation and reduced weed load were observed, especially in saline soils. Yields were above average at Agro Lehel Kft., with average but high-quality results elsewhere. No insecticides were needed, and production costs were lower than conventional methods. Funded by the European Union via EU-FarmBook.
