Optimized Pasture Management - Smart Grazing Project
Smart grazing model development for diverse regional pasture conditions in Schleswig-Holstein
or
Detail description
This project developed a smart grazing model for Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, from 2015 to 2018, creating a secure data foundation for assessing pasture performance and forage quality. It evaluated pasture yield and quality across diverse regions—eastern uplands, Geest, bogs, and marshes—using real-time growth and feed quality data integrated with German Weather Service forecasts. The initiative supported region-specific management strategies and established a pasture platform with partners including the Agricultural Chamber of Schleswig-Holstein, Thünen Institute, and EIP-AGRI.
