Strip Cropping in Practice: Enhancing Biodiversity and Yield

Strip cropping enhances biodiversity and soil health while maintaining yields in organic farming systems

or

Detail description

Strip cropping enhances biodiversity and maintains yields in organic farming. Trials in Austria and the Netherlands show improved soil health, reduced erosion, and increased populations of beneficial insects like hoverflies and ladybugs. The method uses 3- to 9-meter crop strips with crops such as rye, wheat, potatoes, and clover, compatible with conventional machinery and precision farming. Results indicate comparable yields to conventional farming with significant ecological benefits.
