This project evaluated an innovative aerobic bio-cell technology for sanitizing and stabilizing manure-derived bedding litter in dairy cow cubicles. Over 2016–2018, the system was tested in Emilia-Romagna, Italy, focusing on cow health, milk hygiene, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese quality, and environmental impact. Real-time monitoring tracked ammonia and greenhouse gas emissions, while life cycle assessment assessed sustainability. The project, funded under Rural Development 2014–2020, aimed to improve farm efficiency and reduce environmental impact using stabilized recycled bedding.
