Struvite from pig digestate: reducing emissions and recovering nutrients

Reducing ammonia, methane, and nitrous oxide emissions from pig digestate through struvite recovery and nutrient recycling

or

Detail description

Reduced ammonia, methane, and nitrous oxide emissions from pig digestate storage through struvite recovery. Prototype treatment system decreased nitrogen by 42% and methane by 86%. Struvite, a stable, slow-release fertilizer, enables nutrient recycling in high-livestock regions. Measured via wind tunnel (ammonia) and static chamber (methane, nitrous oxide). Project ran 2021–2023 in Emilia-Romagna, Italy, funded under Rural Development 2014–2020. Led by CRPA, Reggio Emilia.
