Multifunctional margins in dryland herbaceous crops across Andalusia enhance soil protection, biodiversity, and carbon sequestration. Implemented from 2015–2017 on over 200 hectares by ASAJA-Sevilla, the project promoted sustainable farming through species mixtures like Vicia sativa, Trifolium spp., and Marrubium vulgare. Funded by Andalusia’s Rural Development Programme (2014–2020), it supported CAP voluntary measures and aligned with Syngenta’s Operation Pollinator. The initiative, active from February 2018 to February 2020, focused on practical recommendations, flexible placement, and agronomic simplicity to boost adoption in Mediterranean conditions. Key sites included Zafra, Córdoba, Osuna, and Lebríja.
