Símbiosis API-AGRO: Apiculture and Agroecology for Sustainability

The Símbiosis API-AGRO project assesses the symbiotic integration of apiculture and agroecological farming in the Sierra de Madrid for climate change adaptation. It involves 3–4 diverse farms using aromatic plant compositions, beehives, and social infrastructure to support pollination and sustainable production. Expert-validated indicators measure effectiveness. The project demonstrates feasibility, identifies implementation conditions, conducts outreach, and produces a comprehensive report on current conditions and adaptation strategies. The findings will inform local policy on shared services and rural population retention. Funded under Madrid’s 2018 innovation programme.
