Winter vetch and cereal associations for organic grain production

Winter vetch and cereal associations in organic farming: weed control, yield, and harvest performance in Brittany and Pays de la Loire

or

Detail description

Winter vetch grown in association with cereals for grain harvest in organic farming in Brittany and Pays de la Loire. Evaluates cereal selection, weed management, yield impacts, crop maturity, and harvesting ease. Results from three trials show vetch + wheat, rye, and triticale associations improve weed suppression and total yield. Sowing rates: vetch 100% (40 seeds/m²), cereals at 30–70% of pure crop rate. Pure vetch yield averages 35.4 q/ha (max 42.4 q/ha), with average dry matter 24.0% at 14% moisture. No herbicides used. Data from PROGRALIVE and SECALIBIO networks.
