Végétal Local Initiative in Normandy: Sustainable Plant Production and Biodiversity Restoration

The FILONOR project (2022–2024) strengthens Normandy’s 'Végétal local' industry through sustainable practices, biodiversity, and ecological restoration. Led by ASTREDHOR, Horti-Pôle Évreux, and Réseau Haies Normandie, with 80% funding from Région Normandie and FEADER, it addresses supply-demand gaps in locally sourced plants. Key actions include expanding plant collections, training 15+ professionals, developing 35 technical fiches per species, and testing mechanical tools like seed brushers. Challenges include low seed viability, limited production sites, and regional disparities. The project supports nursery development, mother tree parks, and improved seed conservation.
