OPTIPORC: Resource Optimization and Environmental Impact Reduction in Porcine Breeding

Optimising resource use and reducing environmental impact in pig production through genetic selection, nutritional strategies, and predictive modelling across Catalonia. The project quantifies emissions of nitrogen, phosphorus, and greenhouse gases, evaluates efficiency, and develops biomarkers for emission prediction in collaboration with five breeding companies under ACBPS. Funded by the EU and Catalan government under the Rural Development Programme 2014–2020, it supports climate change adaptation and economic resilience in pig farming.
