Vineyard and soil conservation research in organic viticulture and olive cultivation

Advancing sustainable olive and vine cultivation through digital innovation and climate-resilient practices in the Mediterranean

Detail description

A collection of 9 videos showcasing the INTAVIEBIO Operational Group's work in reducing copper and external inputs in organic viticulture through digital tools and knowledge sharing. The group, coordinated by AIAA BFG since 2020 (initiated 2018), brings together advanced farmers and research institutions, distinguishing itself as a non-university-led initiative. The videos cover objectives, partners, project progression, results, and testimonials. A parallel effort, Oltre.bio, supports innovative practices in organic cherry and table grape cultivation. In Mediterranean regions spanning 92,090 km², olive farming involves ~130,000 producers across ~350,000 hectares, including traditional systems (e.g., Calgana Vulgar, Cobranosa) and high-density orchards. With ~500 mills and a median farm size of 27 hectares, new rainfed olive grove practices enhance climate change mitigation and adaptation. Funded by the European Union, these initiatives promote sustainable agriculture in evolving environmental conditions.
