Optimization of Fertilization Plan in Alt Urgell-Cerdanya

The Cooperativa Pirenaica SCCL implemented a 24-month project in Alt Urgell and La Cerdanya to optimize livestock manure management as a sustainable fertilizer, reducing environmental impacts and improving soil fertility. The initiative, funded by the DACC and the European Union, focused on mobile decantation technology to concentrate nitrogen and phosphorus, minimizing ammonia emissions and transport costs. In collaboration with the Universitat de Lleida, the project assessed floculants for nutrient load reduction and promoted manure characterization for optimal agricultural use. Outcomes highlighted efficient nutrient extraction and enhanced soil structure, with dissemination through workshops, social media, and a dedicated website. The project demonstrated that mobile treatment significantly boosts sustainability and helps prevent land abandonment.
