AVIENERGY: Circular Bioeconomy in Poultry Sector

Valorización de residuos avícolas mediante combustión termoquímica para generación de energía y fertilizantes

or

Detail description

AVIENERGY is a supra-regional operational group promoting efficient resource use in the poultry sector through circular bioeconomy principles. It focuses on valorizing poultry litter—manure, droppings, and bedding—as a renewable energy source and nutrient-rich fertilizer. By using a specially adapted thermochemical burner, the project converts waste into thermal energy for farm use and produces ash for soil application. Micro-cogeneration feasibility is also being studied. This innovation reduces greenhouse gas emissions, enhances sector competitiveness, and decreases energy dependence. Funded 80% by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (FEADER), the project supports sustainable rural development under the 2014–2020 National Rural Development Program.
