Lentils and hull-less barley intercropping in Switzerland

Mixed intercropping of lentils (Lens culinaris Medik.) with hull-less barley in Switzerland enhances yield stability, reduces lodging, and suppresses weeds. Hull-less barley provides structural support, improves resource use efficiency, and increases biodiversity. This approach supports sustainable crop rotation and reduces reliance on machinery and inputs. Research from the CROPDIVA project highlights the benefits of this agroecological system.
