Hydrogen peroxide injection shows limited, short-term effectiveness in managing grapevine trunk diseases (GTDs) like Esca, Eutypa dieback, and Botryosphaeria dieback. Field trials in Spain and France report temporary symptom suppression in Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling, especially when applied early post-pruning. Treatments using 3% H₂O₂ or HUWA SAN 50A (H₂O₂ with colloidal silver) were applied directly into trunks, with variable results under heat stress. While H₂O₂ may trigger plant defence responses via reactive oxygen species, long-term efficacy, transport within vines, and phytotoxicity remain unproven. No registered products exist for this use, and results are inconsistent. Risks include vine damage and residue concerns. Empirical data from 219 grower interviews and field studies suggest potential but no scientific validation.
