LivingSoill: Healthy Soil for Permanent Crops in Andalusia

Advancing sustainable olive farming through digital innovation and regenerative practices in Andalusia

or

Detail description

Healthy soil is central to the LIVING LAB ANDALUZ project, a five-year EU-funded initiative (2024–2028) led by Universidad de Jaén. It unites over 30 researchers and 11 partners, including academic, industrial, and regional stakeholders, to advance sustainable olive farming in Andalusia. The project focuses on digitalisation, regenerative agriculture, and soil health through innovations like cover cropping, compost and biochar use, livestock integration, biodiversity islands, hydroinfiltrators, and carbon credit systems. Ten interdisciplinary teams work across ICT, geomatics, robotics, soil science, ecology, sociology, and plant physiology. Activities span proposal submission (Jan 2024), EC presentation (Jun 2024), implementation from Sep 2024 to Dec 2028. The project drives climate resilience and soil sustainability in permanent crops, aligning with UN SDGs and fostering collaboration between science, industry, and local communities.
