trans4num: NBS Implementation and Testing in Denmark

trans4num is a Horizon Europe project advancing sustainable nutrient management in agriculture through nature-based solutions. In Denmark, the project implements two key NBS: optimizing crop rotations with perennial crops like grass and grass-clover for biorefinery use, and converting organic waste streams such as manure into bio-based fertilizers to enhance nutrient cycling. Stakeholder engagement with farmers, biogas plants, biorefineries, and regulators is informing a major workshop in autumn 2024. The initiative supports ecological transition, reduces nitrogen loss, and strengthens farm resilience.
