Biogas plants on dairy farms: energy and waste management

Biogas plants on dairy farms: transforming manure into renewable energy and sustainable soil fertilizer

or

Detail description

Biogas plants on dairy farms convert manure into renewable energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and produce nutrient-rich digestate for soil. This integrated system enhances energy efficiency, lowers costs, and supports sustainability goals. Key components include digesters, gas treatment, CHP units, and connections to energy networks. Proper digestate management is critical to prevent nitrogen emissions. Investment ranges from €610,000 to €2.42 million for plants producing 385–490 MWh annually. Supported by the EU Horizon 2020 programme.
