Detail description
Wood supply chains in Spain face inefficiencies and opacity, limiting sustainability and cost-efficiency. The ChainWood project develops a blockchain-based platform to enhance transparency, traceability, and efficiency across the forestry and wood sector—from forest to primary processing. Involving key stakeholders across Castilla y León, Asturias, and Galicia, the solution supports solid wood, chips, pulp, and biomass. Pilot tests confirm improved transaction speed, better data access, and stronger certification tracking. The platform reduces costs, increases operational efficiency, and enables real-time monitoring for producers and industry. Widely disseminated to over 120 sector actors, ChainWood offers a scalable, open infrastructure for modernising Spain’s wood supply chains.
