Diversified food system: Embedding crop genetic diversity in value chains

Empowering food systems through agrobiodiversity, education, and multi-actor collaboration

or

Detail description

This document outlines policy recommendations from the EU-funded DIVERSIFOOD project to integrate crop genetic diversity into food systems. It emphasizes multi-actor collaboration among farmers, consumers, researchers, and policymakers to promote agrobiodiversity through education, participatory breeding, and systemic change. Key actions include public awareness campaigns, revised curricula, training in interdisciplinary methods, and policy reforms to support diverse seed systems and organic farming. The project, led by institutions including the University of Copenhagen and INRAE, advocates for resilient, equitable food systems rooted in local knowledge and ecological principles. Findings are published in *Food Security* (2023), with toolkits and policy briefs available on the DIVERSIFOOD website.
