This project evaluates heterosis and combining ability in tomato hybrids between modern inbreds and traditional cultivars, focusing on balancing yield, disease resistance, and sensory quality. Seven MERIDSEED inbreds (MS_1–MS_7) and eight traditional varieties (TRVA6030–TRVA6080) were crossed to generate UHM hybrids. Field trials assessed plant vigor, fruit productivity, and volatile composition via GC-MS. Strong combining ability was observed for fruit firmness and yield, particularly in MS_1 (Marmande) and MS_6 (Cherry/Cocktail). The RIN gene influenced ripening and volatile profiles, with 60% of hybrids showing reduced volatiles. Resistance to ToMV, TYLCV, and TSWV was confirmed in parental lines.
