AF4EU: EU-Funded Agroforestry Innovation Networks in Europe
Promoting sustainable agroforestry through regional innovation networks across Europe
or
Detail description
Agroforestry integration of trees, crops, and livestock enhances sustainability, biodiversity, and soil health across diverse European regions. AF4EU establishes Regional Agroforestry Innovation Networks (RAINs) in Galicia (Spain), Finland, and Italy, linking farmers, advisors, policymakers, and multipliers. Lighthouse sites span from Lugo and A Coruña (Spain) to Turcianske Teplice (Slovakia), Saxony-Anhalt (Germany), and Granada (Spain), covering mountains, plains, forests, and orchards. Livestock include cattle, sheep, pigs, horses, goats, chickens, and bees. Products range from meat and dairy to honey, nuts, wood, and natural fibres. The project supports 33 sustainable agroforestry business models, develops a knowledge platform with a searchable cloud, decision support tools, and a multilingual MOOC. Funded under Horizon Europe (Grant No 101058525), AF4EU advances innovation, policy integration, and knowledge sharing across Europe.
