HNV-Link was an EU Horizon 2020 project that aimed to create a community of practice and knowledge by linking 10 areas throughout the European Union where HNV farming systems are prevalent. These Learning Areas are used to evaluate innovation examples and gaps relevant to HNV systems. Innovation types include technical, commercial, social, institutional, and policy. This document focuses on the general overview of the HNV concept across Europe, the types of HNV farmland and their origin, diversity in farmland, conservation status of HNV farmland, socio-economic value, current challenges and research and development needs.
