OG Innovative Bioproducts for Fruit Storage Protection

The project established a cooperation network in fruit storage through a pomicultural operational group, developing edible coatings from natural polysaccharides, proteins, and plant extracts to protect fruits during storage. Coatings were tested on conventional and organic fruits from Vâlcea and Dâmbovița counties, showing antimicrobial, antioxidant, and moisture barrier effects that preserve firmness, colour, aroma, and nutritional quality. The fruit peel is safe to consume.
