MOVING Project - Resilience of mountain grain value chains in Europe

MOVING was an EU Horizon 2020 project supporting resilience and sustainability in European mountain regions through capacity building and policy development. It focused on 23 mountain regions across 15 countries, examining value chains like bio-alpine grain in Graubünden. The project highlights challenges such as land-use change, climate change, political shifts, and skilled labor shortages. In Graubünden, the cooperative Granalpin preserves local grain diversity through a regional value chain, producing 700 tons of organic alpine grain annually with 170 members. The project identifies adaptation strategies and opportunities for sustainable mountain development, emphasizing regional economic resilience, environmental sustainability, and innovation in traditional agriculture.
