Detail description

Energy independence through renewable energy: Barciany municipality in northern Poland achieved sustainable heating and power generation using biomass district heating plants, geothermal heat pumps, and solar PV installations. The project, initiated in 2009, serves 56 clients with 1.3 MW and 0.3 MW biomass plants, while heat pumps in two schools reduced heating costs by 70%. A 29 kW solar PV system and a 57.6 kW geothermal heat pump at the municipal office further support energy autonomy. Located in a Natura 2000 area, the municipality utilizes waste biomass and geothermal resources to enhance rural energy resilience. Country: Poland.
