MOVING Project - The mountain landscape and PDO products
MOVING was an EU Horizon 2020 project that aimed to build capacities and co-develop relevant policy frameworks across Europe to support the establishment of new or upgraded/upscaled value chains that contribute to the resilience and sustainability of mountain areas. The project engaged value chain actors, stakeholders, and policymakers in a total of 23 European mountain regions in 15 countries. This Practice Abstract tells the story of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Serra da Estrela Cheese from Portugal. It presents how the milk and cheese are produced within a designated area and what are the production requirements to keep its quality certification.
