Genomic filtering of neuropeptide sequences
The principle of the proposal is that we will design novel neuropeptide analogues. However, not all insects will necessarily have all neuropeptides. Obviously, it would be pointless trying to control an insect with an analogue of a neuropeptide that they do not have. It is thus necessary to survey available literature and insect genome sequences, to identify the neuropeptides they encode or use. Comparison between insects therefore provides a rationale for selecting neuropeptides for detailed further study
