Feeding concept for pigs - EIP project video
An innovative feeding concept is being tested in the new outdoor climate barn in Rhineland-Palatinate: the feed contains crude fiber sources such as alfalfa green meal. These have a better swelling capacity and the pigs therefore feel fuller for longer. The EIP project is investigating the behavior of the sows in terms of animal health and welfare. The initial results show that the feed is digested better and there is more peace and quiet in the barn. In addition, domestic legumes in the feed save on GMO soy from overseas.
