Developing farm archetypes for upscaling climate action in the supply chain
Farm archetypes help group similar farms into practical clusters, enabling more effective climate mitigation roadmaps and scalable sustainability interventions.
Description détaillée
This practice abstract presents the concept of farm archetypes as a tool to support large-scale climate action across agricultural supply chains.
Farms operating in the same region often differ significantly in production systems, management practices, technologies and production intensity, resulting in different greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprints. Developing individual mitigation roadmaps for each farm is often impractical.
By grouping farms with similar characteristics into archetypes, organisations can identify common patterns, develop targeted intervention plans and avoid overgeneralisation. The approach supports efficient climate action planning, sustainability assessments and the scaling-up of mitigation strategies across large supply chains.
