Description détaillée

European wheat is threatened by yellow rust, stem rust, and leaf rust, with emerging virulent strains and climatic changes increasing disease pressure and risking yield losses. To support Integrated Pest Management, Aarhus University developed the Wheat Rust Early Warning survey app, enabling stakeholders to report both presence and absence of rust symptoms via smartphone or tablet. Collected data feed a dashboard and underpin a Vulnerability Mapping Tool that forecasts the impact of new rust races on wheat production across Europe. These tools aim to guide breeders and farmers in selecting resistant varieties, diversifying crops, and reducing pesticide use in line with Farm to Fork objectives.
