Description détaillée

This practice abstract presents the use of strip tillage combined with slurry, digestate or mineral fertiliser injection as a strategy to improve resource efficiency and reduce environmental impacts in crop production systems.

Strip tillage disturbs only narrow planting strips while leaving most of the soil undisturbed, helping to improve soil structure, reduce compaction, minimise erosion and increase soil organic matter. Fertiliser is placed directly under the crop row, improving nutrient use efficiency and supporting precision farming approaches.

The practice can reduce fuel consumption by 60-70%, lower greenhouse gas emissions associated with field operations, decrease machinery requirements and improve overall farm efficiency while maintaining crop productivity.
