Tool for harvesting the chaff
Traditionally, chaff is left in the field with the straw, due to a lack of effective harvesting solutions. This practice results in: • A loss of energy resources (1.5 t/ha on average); • The spread of weed seeds; • A lack of usable resources for local biomass industries.

Detail description
Three technologies are currently available for harvesting and recycling chaff clippings from combine harvesters and after harvesting:
1. Thiérart – V3 turbine with tipping trailer or transfer vehicle
Two large-diameter turbines that can be fitted to combine harvesters. Designed to suck up and then blow away chaff. This turbine system can be coupled with a transfer vehicle or a tipping trailer
2. Gyrax – ‘Démét’Air’ vacuum trailer
The Démét’Air suction trailer collects small pieces of chaff and unwanted seeds left behind by the combine harvester. It is equipped with two powerful suction turbines with Hardox steel blades and is used after the chaff has been baled, overlapping the locations of the old swaths.
3. Harcob (Agricinque / Italy)
The system was developed for the simultaneous harvesting of corn grain and corn cobs in an additional 9 m3 tank. It has been modified to collect chaff by changing the sieves according to the size of the wheat grains and the grinding elements (knives) of the threshing cylinder.
