Less weed pressure in Regenerative growing systems
A document exploring the results of on-farm trials analysing weed counts from long-term field trials, focusing on differences in weed pressure under varying soil tillage practices.
Detail description
This document explores the results of on-farm trials that took place in Denmark during the spring and summer of 2023 and 2024. In them, weed counts were conducted in experimental fields managed under four systems: ploughing since 1999, harrowing since 1999, direct seeding (converted 5 years ago) and direct seeding (converted 10 years ago).
The results show that it is not necessary true that regenerative results in higher herbicide use due to assumed increases in weed pressure, as the results from these trials do not support this claim. On the contrary, they indicate a potential to reduce or in some cases eliminate herbicide use in non-ploughed systems.
