Occupational Health and Stress in German Agriculture: Risks and Solutions

Support systems and policy gaps in agricultural health and safety: A CoP perspective from Germany

or

Detail description

Farmers face rising stress from workloads, policy complexity, and media stigma, contributing to burnout and health issues. Research links these stressors to occupational risks like hearing loss and skin conditions. While European and German regulations prioritise technical and organisational safety measures over PPE, economic and operational constraints limit implementation, leading to overreliance on PPE and information campaigns. The SafeHabitus Community of Practice addresses this gap through tailored support, reporting systems, and counselling, promoting integrated solutions for psychosocial and occupational health in agriculture. Funded by the EU, the initiative strengthens knowledge innovation systems for farm health and safety.
