Farmer Field Schools for Reduced Antibiotic Use in Livestock

Farmer-led learning platforms for sustainable antibiotic use and improved animal health

or

Detail description

Farmer Field Schools enhance knowledge exchange and innovation adoption among farmers and advisors, particularly in reducing antibiotic use in livestock. This peer-to-peer learning model improves the uptake of practical recommendations, transforming static health plans into dynamic, farmer-led decision-making processes. Results show measurable reductions in antibiotic use while maintaining or improving animal health and welfare. The approach is supported by implementation guidelines and is part of the RELACS project, which aims to reduce antibiotic use across European agriculture.
