Natural Light Management in Broiler Houses Using Frosted Glass
Enhances broiler welfare through controlled natural light distribution in poultry housing
or
Detail description
The BroilerNet project collects Good Practices for broiler production. Frosted glass enables even daylight distribution in broiler houses, reducing glare and hotspots, improving bird uniformity, and lowering heat stress. This enhances animal welfare, feed conversion, and working conditions. With 3% of floor area covered, it supports compliance with welfare and supply chain standards. Investment is €17/m² (9% of new house cost), including blinds and installation. Gradual light introduction using artificial lighting prevents stress. A balanced solution for welfare, performance, and compliance.
