Testing New Mowing Head vs Existing Solutions in Grassification Project

Testing and comparison of new mowing head performance against existing solutions in Belgian roadside cutting projects

or

Detail description

Mowing performance comparison of new mowing head against Vandaele flail and Herder horizontal rotary mowers in Belgium, focusing on grass quality, fibre characteristics, and suitability for biorefinery applications. Tests conducted in Maldegem at Leopoldskanaal, Zandakker - Ringbaan, and Dijkstraat sites assessed mowing height, speed, moisture, and sand content. Results show Vandaele mower produces clippings with lower sand and moisture, ideal for energy and material recovery. Herder mower shows limitations with long fibres and slow operation. Project led by Pro Natura with partners Innec, Delphy, UGent. Funded by the European Union. Final report dated 16 December 2019.
