SYNAPTIC: Creating synergy amongst stakeholders for the integrated regional protection of potato crops against late blight

This project has demonstrated, through the mobilisation of local stakeholders, that combining the various components of integrated protection against downy mildew – including the preventive management of the primary inoculum – leads to significant reductions in the IFT. Similarly, a dialogue has been initiated with local stakeholders to develop a methodology for overcoming barriers to changing practices – in particular, the selection of varieties less susceptible to downy mildew – with a view to incorporating the principles of integrated pest management into commercial production plots and amateur gardens.
