Prevent winter grain damage with spring rolling

Improve soil structure and root development in spring-sown winter grains to enhance drought resilience and reduce lodging

or

Detail description

Rolling spring-sown grains mitigates frost damage, improves soil structure, and enhances water availability by reconnecting soil crumbs. It stimulates root development, promotes tillering, and increases plant stability, reducing lodging risk. Recommended for use on dry soil at speeds ≤5 km/h, with caution on corrugated rollers. Effective for spelt and winter wheat up to the 1-node stage, even in dense or fertilized crops. Developed by FiBL (Switzerland) in 2017 as part of the OK-Net Arable project, this low-input practice supports soil health, pest control, and sustainable arable production in temperate climates.
