Monitoring Environmental Sustainability in Broiler Chicken Production via LCA

Monitoring broiler chicken production sustainability through LCA-based carbon auditing for farm and certification needs

or

Detail description

Environmental sustainability tool for broiler chicken production using Life Cycle Assessment and carbon auditing, developed by the University of Padua under the AGRITECH project. Designed for use across intensive, extensive, organic, and slow-growth systems, it supports farm-level monitoring and emerging environmental certification schemes. Streamlined data collection minimises on-farm burden. The open-access tool, expected by February 2026 (TRL 7), enhances transparency, regulatory compliance, and awareness of greenhouse gas emissions. It supports carbon farming, sequestration, and renewable energy integration, strengthening sustainability in the European poultry sector. Available at BroilerNet.eu. Funded by the European Commission under the EIP-Agri programme.
