Standardized carbon accounting for broiler production
Carbon footprint calculation for broiler farms using standardized methodology and primary data
or
Detail description
Standardized carbon accounting is vital for broiler sector sustainability. The QS Climate Platform enables poultry farmers to calculate farm- and product-specific carbon footprints using primary data on animal husbandry, feeding, energy use, and manure management. Based on a uniform, recognized methodology, it ensures reliable, comparable results across farms and the supply chain. The platform supports climate action through benchmarking, transparency, and actionable guidance on emission reduction, while maintaining competitiveness and market access. Centralized data storage reduces administrative burden and enables data sharing with processors, retailers, and financial institutions. As carbon data grow in importance for regulatory compliance and market access, the platform prepares farms for future requirements. Its voluntary, sector-driven design boosts farmer acceptance and participation. Ultimately, it promotes a more transparent, data-driven, and resilient poultry value chain. Free for QS system participants. BroilerNet.eu. Participating in EIP-Agri, Agriculture & Innovation. Funded by the European Commission.
