Standardized Carbon Accounting for Broiler Production
Carbon accounting for broiler farms using standardized data platform to reduce emissions and improve sustainability
or
Detail description
Carbon accounting is essential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the broiler sector. This platform, developed by Q5 (Germany’s food safety standard), enables farmers to input data on animal husbandry, feeding, energy use, and feed ingredients. Using a recognized calculation model, it delivers reliable carbon footprint results in CO₂-equivalents per kg of product at both farm and product levels. Results support optimization, benchmarking, and targeted emission reduction—such as through feed optimization, energy efficiency, and improved manure and litter management. The standardized, collaborative approach ensures consistency across farms and supply chain aggregation. Open to all partners, the platform helps poultry farmers transparently demonstrate climate performance, supporting market access, regulatory compliance, and long-term competitiveness. Carbon accounting is becoming a key indicator for farm viability and operational efficiency.
