Grapevine breeding and microvinification at the Julius Kühn Institute in Germany

or

Detail description

The Julius Kühn Institute (JKI) conducts grapevine breeding at its Geilweilerhof site in Siekbaldingen, focusing on developing disease-resistant varieties. Using microvinification in small vessels (1–100 litres), the institute evaluates limited breeding material through glass bottles, small containers, and wooden barrels for maturation and quality assessment. This research supports sustainable viticulture and is conducted under the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Rural Affairs. Contact: zr@julius-kuehn.de.
