Integration of agriculture, soil conservation, and ecosystem restoration
Restoring biodiversity and soil health in Spain's cereal systems through ecological hedgerows and CAP-compliant practices
or
Detail description
The farm "La Calceta" in Córdoba's Campiña region participates in the Cereal Agua OG project, demonstrating ecological restoration and soil conservation in productive cereal systems. Through multifunctional hedgerows using Pistacia lentiscus, Olea europaea, and Quercus coccifera, the project enhances biodiversity, reduces erosion, improves microclimate, and maintains farm profitability. Implemented under Eco-scheme 9 of the new CAP, actions include 300+ meters of hedgerows with 18.72€/plant costs, ensuring high survival and faster establishment. Results show improved ecosystem services and resilience in agroecosystems.
