Lupine Germination and Weed Control Factsheet
Lupine germination conditions and post-emergence challenges
or
Detail description
Young lupine seedlings are vulnerable to fungal infections and insect damage due to slow germination. Low germination rates may require re-sowing. Maintain weed control until the crop is well established. Germination speed and percentage are influenced by temperature, sowing depth, and seed viability. Cold conditions delay germination (17–25 days), while warm conditions accelerate it (5–7 days). Hare and vole damage may allow recovery; pigeon damage is fatal. Soil-borne fungi and pests like bean weevil larvae cause irreversible damage.
