Researchers: acidifying the thin fraction is essential for ammonia reduction

Separating manure into a solid and a liquid fraction may offer a way to reduce ammonia emissions. However, it is important to remain mindful of ammonia emissions from the liquid fraction, as these are significantly higher than those from slurry. Acidification may offer a solution here. This is according to research by NMI Agro, KTC Zegveld and the Louis Bolk Institute.
