Heat Treatment for Tulip Bulb Mite Control

Heat treatment at 43°C for 1–2 days as a sustainable alternative to chemical control for tulip bulb mites

or

Detail description

Heat treatment at 43°C for 1–2 days effectively controls tulip bulb mites (A. tulipae) with minimal damage to marketable tulips when using a 1-day treatment. A 2-day treatment ensures 100% mite elimination for planting material but may reduce growth. The method is a sustainable alternative to spirotetramat, banned from 30 October 2025. Research by Delphy B.V. and WUR Glastuinbouw confirms efficacy and safety in field trials.
