Detail description
Webinar on arable livestock farming and optimal nitrogen fertilisation, organised as part of the Nutrient Cycle Learning Journey. Topics to be discussed: 1. The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality’s review of manure policy, which focuses, amongst other things, on manure removal and manure valorisation. 2. The results of a pilot study by Wageningen University in which animal manure is processed into a potential fertiliser substitute. 3. Regional approaches to tackling the manure problem by processing cattle manure into ammonium sulphate and mineral concentrate. (The ‘Bespoke Mineral Concentrate’ project, made possible by support from the provinces of Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe invests in its countryside.) 4. Panel discussion: ‘What is needed for arable farmers or livestock farmers (maize growers) to start using mineral concentrate or ammonium sulphate in practice?’ With speakers Harm Smit from the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), Project Leader Oscar Schoumans from Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and Sytze Waltje, Project Account Manager at DLV Advies.
