Cattle Farming with Farm-to-Fork Strategy in Transylvania

Halal butchery innovation in Transylvania boosts value for family-run beef farm

or

Detail description

Green FarmSel is a family-run farm in Turda, Cluj County, specializing in Angus beef cattle and sustainable land use. Spanning 330 hectares—270 for grazing and 60 for crop production—its rotational grazing system reduces labor and feed costs. To enhance value, the farmer launched the niche Halal brand "Carnangeria Halal" in Cluj-Napoca, operating a retail butcher shop with €150,000 in startup costs, primarily for equipment. The farm opted against building a private abattoir due to high setup costs. The initiative supports rural value addition and cost-sharing models for farmers.
